Nyege Nyege Remix Oslo transforms Oslo’s club scene with a festival featuring international as well as local artists. East Africa’s biggest festival Nyege Nyege celebrates ten years this autumn, and collaborates with Digital Diaspora for this second Norway-edition.

Think of this satellite festival as a remix of Oslo – sonically, socially and culturally. We’re bringing together a diverse cast of artists and DJs at Kafé Hærverk, Dattera til Hagen and a Kilele Summit collab at Melahuset, as well as a performance at Urtegata in Grønland, so expect a cultural convergence, uniting people not often found in the same spaces in Norway.

Here’s the programme at Dattera til Hagen on the 21st of June:

JAKO MARON (Réunion)
Jako Maron is an artist whose influences vary from old school hip hop to dub and electro. He relentlessly pushes traditional maloya and sega music into the future.

DJ TOBZY (Nigeria)
DJ Tobzy Imole Giwa creates a new form of afrobeats—dubbed cruise or freebeat—a chaotic genre inspired by afrobeats, amapiano, baile funk, gqom, techno, rave – and TikTok.

HIBOTEP (Somalia)
Hibotep has been part of the Nyege Nyege collective since the beginning. As a DJ, filmmaker, poet, fashion designer, and producer, she is a master of transformation—not the least when DJ-ing.

R3IGN DROPS (Uganda)
R3ign Drops explores the darker sides of afrohouse, afro-tech, 3-step, and gqom, turning them into danceable expressions for mind, body and soul.

UNGANISHA (Norway/Kenya)
Unganisha is no stranger to pushing boundaries,
harmoniously fusing the rich traditions of Kenyan music with the avant-garde tones of experimental art and cutting-edge sounds of electronic club music.

DJ ANTIMANIFESTO (UK/Norway)
DJ Antimanifesto is a genre-ambivalent selector from London, now residing in Oslo. She is interested in the interplay of angular and off-kilter rhythms and the extremes of low- and high-end sonics.

ADIPOP (Norway)
For almost a decade, Adipop has played clubs, festivals, and airwaves such as NTS and Rinse. She is mixing dreamy and melodic electronica, unapologetically hard-hitting homemade beats with bussin references from dancehall, afro, reggae and other black genres.

MATEØ (Norway)
Mateø is a Norwegian & Ecuadorian artist and DJ currently based in Oslo. His sound is shaped by the pulse of underground queer techno scenes, rising neoperreo/reggaeton blends as well as ethereal-siren-dreamscape tracks.

The festival is a co-curated by Nyege Nyege and Digital Diaspora, Dep.artment and Kilele Summit.
